I am very disappointed in Governor Baker and other state officials.

За что я не люблю Калифорнию. В большинстве пресноводных водоемов купание запрещено. Кроме совсем уже больших, типа оз. Тахо.

Старые запреты труднее реверсировать. Вон сколько десятилетий старались, пока Марьванну опять стали разрешать (я помню, мы ещё в прошлом столетии про это писали листовки и раздавали на улице; и это всё тогда казалось вполне безнадёжным; ну хоть за листовки не винтили, в отличие от совка, и то хлеб)...

Да, странно. Где-то иной раз что-то улучшается. И уже никто не наезжает на гей мерридж, например. А Гитмо так и работает, однако.

Да, я помню, когда были обсуждения gay rights, и я всегда твердо говорил, что мы хотим gay marriage, и на меньшее не согласны, тоже смотрели, как на безумных мечтателей.

И качели такие - что-то улучшается, другое портится...

In reality, we'll need to see what the new compromise will be, and whether it will be at all acceptable. I anticipate a long confrontation between the swimming community and the newly aggressive state ahead of us.

Some form of open water swimming will be allowed, but the confrontation not over. The conflict between the desire of people to be free, at least during their lake swims, and the desire of the state to regulate everything is continuing.
